Bio
The Egypt Falls (originally Appin Falls) trail offers a quick descend down to the widest waterfall (~60 feet) on Cape Breton Island. The road you park on, is also the road that takes you into Pipers Glen. This is a great 12 km or more addition to this hike to make it even more worth the drive out. Please note the 13.58 km distance includes the walk into Pipers Glen as a warm up before going down to the falls. Hello,
I am originally from Egypt and I have recently moved to Halifax, NS. I am really curious about visiting “Egypt Falls” and also to know the reason why this place was named so. Do you have an answer?
Hi Mostafa, we believe the answer may simply be because it is located on Egypt Road, but have not found any concrete information for you. Egypt Road may have gotten its name from/based on Egypt Brook. Will let you know if we find out anything else. Thanks!
Thanks hikecb for your answer. If you know further information I will be glad to know Thanks 🙂
Hello:)
I want to know if there is swimming in the pool at the falls 🙂
thanks
Hey Rahaf! The pool at the bottom of these falls is not great for adult swimming. We have seen kids in there but you would need to time it with a big rainfall to do some actual swimming.
We have gone swimming in the middle pool, it is deeper then the bottom, but getting up there is tricky. You have to cross over and go up the right hand side, which can be slippery. The water is quite cold even in the summer, but most find it refreshing.
