Bio

Lowlands Cove is a remote hike through the Pollet's Cove-Aspy Wildneress area. The hike follows old access roads and ATV trails creating a loop out of the Cape St. Lawrence trail.

The trail takes you through thick forest, over two streams, past old farmland, leading to a remote breathtaking oceanfront on Cape Breton's most western tip. Here lies a vast, rolling, open field shoreline with a multi-mountain backdrop. You continue up the coast for over 2km's, this section of the trail has grown in a bit but there are red metal trail flags sticking out of the ground to follow. Keep an eye out for seals and pilot whales as you skirt along the ocean back towards Cape St. Lawrence Lighthouse trail.

Prepare accordingly and this is one of the nicest hikes the Island has to offer. You can approach this hike in the reverse direction as described as well, which can be slightly harder to follow. Keep an eye out for seals and whales as you walk along the coast and moose anywhere's along the trail. Hunting is allowed here during the season.
